The Afghanistan Diaries: Magic Cards Edition

This week has been relatively excellent for me. Despite a mission that came up, things have been going smoothly. Recently, flyers have been cropping up all over the base advertising the existence of a group of Magic: The Gathering players. They play on Fridays and Saturdays. I haven't played in several years (since high school pretty much) but I think this might be something I'd be interested in checking out.

Now entering nerd heaven.
As for the mission, it only lasted about an hour, but we had to stay overnight at a different base for some reason. Also it was a fifteen minute drive from our main base. I'll never understand Army logic. Mostly I just sat around talking and playing my DS the whole time. Also there were puppies!

I'm back on day shift again, which is fine with me. The video game consoles are getting packed up soon, so I'll be back doing the PC gaming thing on my laptop for a few months. Mostly I'll be playing Dwarf Fortress and the Geneforge series.

On the weather front, winter has officially arrived in my opinion. Temperatures are dropping and I may have to start wearing pants. I'm hoping that it starts snowing soon, since apparently it's never going to rain to get rid of the incessant dust that's clogging my lungs.

I've finally managed to find a way to upload pictures. Expect some awesome photos of the landscape and maybe me eating an MRE next week!
